Subject:Counting down the seconds...
Time:1:44 am.
Mood: excited.
This summer is kind of an odd bubble of time where everything is, for a moment, how it was before I left. It won't last long, though, before I move on to my next adventure- college. I haven't wanted to talk about college at all recently because it was stressful at first due to financial issues, etc. However, everything seems to be working out now and I have made contact with the Chinese professor who seems to be basically awesome. This gives me hope and a renewed sense of excitement for this coming school year.
I know I haven't updated at all since I've been home, and I'll probably won't post very often until I get my new blog set up and whatnot.

The most important reason for which I decided to blog today is because in 16 hours Kat will be home. And I'm very very very excited. I just wanted to share that.

Subject:Ah, the power of music
Time:2:47 pm.
Mood: lazy.
You know who I can never get sick of hearing? Sonata Arctica. I don't listen to them often, but every once in a while they'll come on shuffle and I'll be like "why don't I listen to them more often?"

Actually there are kind of a lot of bands that I feel that way about. Including Blink 182 and Nelly. All bands that I listened to like between 8th grade to 10th grade. Basically I still love all the music I listened to throughout my years of puberty and development. Is it just me?

Okay, so I think somethings wrong with my Wordpress. Or possible it's just the internet here. But one of the symptoms, among many, is that I just realized it hasn't been crossposting to my LJ. So my last 4 posts didn't make it over here, for those of you who stopped checking my mares-nest when I enabled crossposting. Maybe that's why I'm not getting any comment love?

I just spent like twenty minutes writing out in detail my school day today. But then I decided it was way too boring to post, so I deleted it. I’ll give you the highlights- I used the computers for 4 periods today, skipping 2 homeroom classes. The only class I went to was my second Chinese lesson, because my teacher didn’t show up for the first. Nobody cared that I skipped. Also, nobody cared when Mayra and I left school for lunch and walked to Napoli for mini pizzas. They were absolutedly delicious. I also napped for about an hour and a half in the afternoon to kill time.

Tomorrow we plan on going into Taichung and buying cheap vendor food and going to the cheap theater, spending as little money as possible. It should be a lot of fun. I intend to spend only 200NT ($6USD) which will I will ride the train to Taichung, buy curry rice from my fav vendor, buy a movie snack, and view two movies at the cheap theater. Honestly, half the fun for me is being able to do all that and have such a good day for so little money.

Yay my wordpress is functioning again.

Anyway, I was trying to organize some playlists the other day, which is intensely overwhelming considering I have over 2000 songs to sort through, and I realized just how hard it would be for me to choose a favorite song. I created one playlist called Ear Candy that has 140 of my favorite songs based on the actual quality of the sound. 140. And that’s just songs I like for technical superiority. Then there are the songs I like for the energy, the beat, the humor, the memories, the sing-along-ability, etc.

And now I will show you where I live. Fengyuan City, approximately 24 15′N, 120 43′E on Google Earth.

This is the image from Google Earth. As you can see, for some reason the picture is only clear for half of my city, and the other half is blurred. It’s very frusterating, because most of the interesting places are in the blurred half.

The yellow outline shows the big road that goes all the way around the city. Today I resolved to eventually walk (or more likely bike) around the whole circle.
The red in the bottom left is where my first host home was.
The orange pentagon outlines my school’s parimeter.
The green blob near the top indicates the area I think my second home was located.
The purple blob near the right indicates the area I think my current home is located.
The blue blog in the middle indicates the approximate location of the trainstation.
And the turquoise lines cover the downtown area where I go shopping.

This is my school.

The red building is where my classroom is, with the red dot indicating which side of the building it’s on.
The orange building is where I prefer to spend most of my time because it has the councilor’s office and the school store.
The yellow building is the library.
The green up near the top is where my classroom was last sememster, with the green dot indicating which part of the building my classroom in.
The blue building is where my music classes, nanhu classes and baking classes are held.
Two of my Chinese teachers hold their lessons with me in the black building.
The little purple bit on the left is the gate I use, and I park my bike behind the gym (white). Yes, those are tennis courts on top of the gym, but I’ve never seen them used. I was sad that it wasn’t a pool on the roof.
The turquoise circle on the right, across the street from the school, is where the nearest tea stand is located, and the pink circle near the bottom is the restaurant my teachers some times take me to for lunch.

The is my first host home. The pink outlines our mini neighborhood type area, and the red thing is the house. The orange+green circles show the nearest 7/11s and the turquoise circle represents the New Balance tea stand. :)

Well, I got my distraction. I met a Taiwanese girl who goes to college in England, and we hung out. Her brother is coincidentally an outbound in the Rotary exchange program. He wants to go to India next year. Sherri and I took Jason to Taichung so he could take his GEPT (an English test) and then we went shopping afterwards. It was soooo much fun, and I got a really cute new purse. Yay.Here are some pictures from the nightmarket we went to. It’s the biggest nightmarket in Taichung… And it’s really awesome.

Yay nightmarket!

Look Riley!!!

I want this dress so badly, but I’m guessing it’s too small for me.

…o_O;;;
Crowded streets…

I added a bunch of pictures to the gallery. Some of them are like a month old at least, but I’ve been lazy.

I have a week off. And this is day one. And I’m already crazy with boredom. I need to go out… Mainly the problem is that I’m freaking out about finding out if I was accepted to Georgetown. I need to do something to distract myself from that cause I don’t find out for another three days and I’m seriously like freaking out. When I applied I was pretty confident about it, but I also didn’t know much about the school. And now I want to go there sooo badly, but it’s the 16th hardest college in America to get into and they only accept about 10% of the students that apply… And I didn’t really do my best on the essays. And I didn’t get interviewed because I was here and they say it doesn’t hurt me, but…
Yea. I need a distraction.

Things I’ve been meaning to say:

Last weekend was my Rotary district’s annual conference, so all the exchange students had to go Saturday from 2 til evening sometime (I forget). And it was boring as hell. Except all the exchange students were together, which is never really *that* boring.
But the next day Mayra and I had to go again even though none of the other exchange students had to go, because my host parents said so. -_-; So when we got there we explored the campus (it was held at a local college) for a little bit and then decided to ditch. We just started out walking without any idea where we were going, but we somehow managed to find our way to the train station and from there hop a bus to the shopping district. Mayra bought two pairs of shoes and a hat, we both bought new purses, and we took photobooth pictures with some of her classmates that we ran into. Then we headed back, buying lunch from some street vendors on the way. It ended up being really fun.

Also, yesterday when we got to our Chinese lesson 4th period, our teacher said she had to go to a meeting in Taipei. So we asked if we could go with her. And she said okay. So just like that we were road tripping to Taipei with our teacher and her husband. When we got there, Mayra and I met up with Kallen, Ben, Nick, and a German girl and hung out in Ximen for three hours while my teacher was at her meeting. It was awesome. I took a lot of pictures of Ximen and then we went to a cosplay costume store (Kallen’s idea) and tried on costumes (also Kallen’s idea). I’m mildly embarrassed to have engaged in such activities (lol) but it was fun anyway. And we snuck some pictures even though you’re not supposed to without paying.

There’s so much potential for mad fun on this island, and, in spite of this, the Taiwanese kids still manage to lead such depressingly boring lives.

It’s not exactly what I had in mind, but I think I like it. Good enough for now, anyway. It was inspired by Japanese photobooths, and I drew all the decorations with my handy dandy drawpad. I totally cheated, though, because I just took some pre-made code and applied my own picture and background. I didn’t even change the font colors… >_<;;; I’m lazy. And also, I’m totally boggled by the complexity of wordpress layouts. I miss D-x. *pout* But yea… yay new layout!

Go look at the Mare’s Nest homepage. Now. Because I just rocked it. Lol… Yea… I finally figured out where the html was stored (which is sadly what has been holding me back (and I know I could’ve asked, but then I would’ve had no excuses, so hush)) and I made my dream come true. It’s simple, yet sexy, I think. Though it’s only good for another 3-4 months now because I took so long.
Kiki and Ry, do you think we should have a link to the photo gallery even though I’m the only one who actually uses it???
Now I just have to pimp my blog layout because I’m bored of this one. But this may take another long while, because wordpress layouts are big and complicated… And the even bigger problem is that I have no idea what I want it to look like. >_<;;; Any suggestions?

Subject:Story time.
Time:11:28 pm.
Once upon a time, when I was in 4th grade, I had a crush on a boy named Will. Then, 8 years later, I fooled around with that boy on the couch in my basement. And now we are in love.

And now and episode from 3 years ago:
Dick and Jane were two model children, but when they grew up they committed incest together, had a set of retarded twins, violently broke up, and our now living on opposite sides of their latest book with shared custody of their children.

Much like the "See Spot Run" story from the Dick and Jane series, written in the 1950's there was a story written about a boy named, Will. This story was written at a much more recent time (actually it has not yet been written, but will be once I get to that part), and although it's written in the same, child friendly writing style as "See Spot Run," it is not a childrens' story. Will's story is better appreciated among the teens age group. It is titled, "Cor, Will's Hot". The story is as follows:

This is Will. Will is hot. I want Will. Snog me, Will, snog me. [As this story becomes more embarrassing for the narrator (aka. me) the narrator's voice begins to fade off. We assume that you can assume the rest on your own, anyway.] ...*voice trails off*...

Haahahahahhahahaahhah....

P.S. Cor, he's hot.

P.P.S Incidently, Dick and Jane named their children Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

Subject:Conform!
Time:5:12 pm.
Mood: cheerful.
I finally got my regular uniform. It comes with one shortsleeve and one longsleeve blouse, a skirt and a pair of pants, a sweatervest, and a jacket. The jacket and the sweatervest are both enormous and ugly. So I don't plan on wearing them. Ever. I also have to wear white socks and black shoes. Which I don't have... so I'm going to buy some tonight. :)

Also, it occurs to me that I haven't shown off the athletic uniform I've been wearing everyday at school for the past two weeks. Some of my classmates are in the pic too... (the back 5 left to right are: Cherry, Kiki, Cindy, Toby, and Zoe. And the three in front are: me, Wendy, and Eve.)

Also, Mayra, the Brazilian, had the nickname "Shiny" at school in Brazil. Short for Shinegami. Because she <3's Duo. >_<;;; So basically I have my own personal Brazilian Kat in Taiwan. Lol. But don't worry, Kiki, because she's missing other important you qualities that make you my best friend. You won't be replaced.
